What is Nourish Us?
NourishUs is an iOS app crafted by a small but passionate team dedicated to supporting menstrual health through personalized nutrition. By tracking each cycle phase (menstrual, follicular, ovulatory, or luteal) the app provides tailored recipes to meet your body's specific needs for each stage. I helped with the strategy, brand, UX and visual design for the app.
What we needed to Achieve
I worked very closely with the Founder and Development Lead on this small team and with a very tight budget to help understand users and how the app could help support their needs. Working together in collaborative sessions, we quickly mocked up a few prototypes for discuss and shop around for user feedback in small user groups. Once a direction was determined, I created design styles and documented basic interactions with animated demos. I also created the app logo.
Results
We launched an intuitive app that makes it easy for users to find recipes aligned with their current cycle stage and nutritional needs.
Available on the App Store as of August 2025, the initial release focused on delivering the app's core functionality. Particular attention was given to the dashboard, using clear data visualization to help users quickly understand where they are in their cycle. We also streamlined recipe discovery with intuitive filtering, incorporated high-quality imagery to showcase recipe outcomes, and designed clean, easy-to-follow instructions that support users from selection through preparation. Every interaction was grounded in established usability and accessibility best practices.

Not pretty, but effective.

Creating a clear, intuitive view of the user’s cycle was essential to unifying the product’s core value.
Subtle micro-animations were added to help make interfaces more engaging and enjoyable.
